600.000 new Italian websites in just one year!

In 2020, a significant number of Italian entrepreneurs and freelancers decided to create their own business websites. This is confirmed by a survey conducted by Registro.it, an entity of the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR.

The domain registry recorded a 13.2% growth in domains in 2020 compared to the previous year. A total of 592,821 websites with a .it domain were created.

No month in any year since 2008 has seen such a high number of registrations. This represents a +44% and +28% increase compared to April and May 2019, respectively. Among the 428,788 new .it domain names registered between January and October 2020, 49% belonged to individuals and 41% to businesses, a reversal of the usual trend in the Italian domain registry, where businesses account for over 50%.

The data provided by Registro.it highlights an Italy that has turned to the web to counteract the closure of many businesses.

Is it still worthwhile to create your own website in the “social media millennium”? Absolutely yes!

Especially because of the significant visibility offered by social networks, having a website is not only useful but necessary. Instagram, facebook, Youtube… these platforms offer free virtual spaces and provide the opportunity to appear online, benefiting professionals and businesses alike.

While this has been and continues to be a great opportunity, it still falls far short of the advantages offered by having your own dedicated web space. Considering that everyone searches for the information or products they need on search engines, particularly on Google, the world’s most popular search engine, whether to satisfy personal curiosity or to gather more information ahead of a potential purchase.

But there are even more benefits…

It’s where potential customers can get to know your business best.

  2. Multiply business opportunities

Many companies have chosen to open a sales channel through their website to develop new business opportunities—namely, e-commerce.

  3. Gain credibility and authority

Having your own professionally managed space on the Internet helps you gain greater authority and build a solid reputation, essential requirements for success.
A small or medium-sized business can use the web to reach a broad audience and lay the foundation for strong future relationships.
A large company or multinational, even more so, must meet customer expectations and prove its worth to avoid damaging its image

  4. Build customers loyalty

One of the purposes of a business website is to increase brand awareness and achieve a high number of conversions.
To encourage users to take action, it’s crucial to earn their trust. From this perspective, a website is the ideal place to maintain users’ interest and implement loyalty strategies.

  5. Customer profiling

A business website allows you to gather valuable information about users and their behavior.
You can track the number of visits to the site, the origin of visitors, the number of clicks, and the most visited pages.
A business website proves to be an excellent tool for profiling your target audience and determining whether your actions (e.g., promotional campaigns) have a positive impact.
The data collected can be used to implement more targeted and effective strategies to achieve your marketing objectives.
